Meet our Bears

Black bears (Ursus americanus) are the most common bear species in North America. They prefer habitats with dense cover and access to food sources like berries, nuts, insects, and small mammals. Black bears are typically smaller than brown bears, with adults weighing between 200 to 600 pounds (90 to 270 kg) and standing about 2.5 to 3 feet (0.8 to 1 meter) at the shoulder.
